Beyond Ordinary Mind

Opening into the Feeling Body

Ordinary mind externalizes the world. It turns what arises in our seeing, hearing and touching into things out there, makes them seem solid and predictable — and then makes itself invisible, so that it all appears simply to be the world as it is.

The talk

Opening our senses beyond ordinary mind

In this talk we will explore how to open our senses beyond ordinary mind. We will ground ourselves in the feeling body — in how, even right now, we are participating in a living situation that is shaping us as much as we are shaping it.

What the lecture includes
  1. 01

The framework of the Three Worlds

The lecture introduces the framework of the Three Worlds: three distinct worlds of experience, each with its own logic, its own subjectivity, its own sense of what is possible.

  2. 02

A first taste of the shift

A small exercise, done with your own hand, that lets you feel the difference between these worlds within a few minutes.

  3. 03

    Talk and exchange

45 minutes of Dharma talk with Nicole, followed by 30 minutes of exchange — time for your questions.

Tatsudo Nicole Baden Roshi

A Dharma successor of Zentatsu Richard Baker Roshi, practicing with the Dharma Sangha since 2001.

When I first heard Nicole speak, I felt an immediate sense of trust and connection. I was drawn into what she later called ‘shared aliveness.’
